Tonight I am going to lie in bed in my pajamas and drink hot chocolate and watch films (Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless MindLost in Translation and the Virgin Suicides are a few possibilities on my list.) Then I will have a bubble bath and sleep for a good eight hours so I can rest up for the remainder of my Thanksgiving weekend, which involves festivities with friends, seeing the Perks (finally!) and having dinner with the family. Sounds lovely, I think.

Last night was spectacular.

Not only did my friends and I watch the beginning of Tarzan without bawling our eyeballs out, but we somehow managed to polish off about two dozen chocolate chip cookies, and I received a piggyback from a friend (who had had a few drinks and promptly dropped me onto the cement, but it was quite the experience regardless.) Sometimes it feels so gratifying to act so young and stupid, and to abandon my constant front of reserve and composure. Last night allowed me to set aside all the heavy feelings affiliated with Friday, and him, if only temporarily.

This morning my parents went out for the day and left me the Kia, so I am currently sitting in a Starbucks drinking a chai tea latte that burns the tip of my tongue, deliberating how to begin the fifth chapter of the book. I’m not sure in which direction it’s going at the moment - it seems to be all over the place, and I only have a vague plan for the plot - but I’m trying to neglect my intuitive need to obsessively revise and edit, and to write my first draft “from the heart” instead. I am twenty-two pages and twelve-thousand-nine-hundred and eleven words in, and losing myself in my character and her story is a distraction nonetheless. Today I am inspired, and content; today is a good day.
